Islander hurt in golf cart ‘accident’

A 72-year-old Boca Bay man was taken to an area hospital Wednesday night after police and fire officials found him laying on the road next to a golf cart at the intersection of Damifino and East Railroad Avenue.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call just after 6 p.m. on April 23 of a “drunk pedestrian who fell and can’t get up, and may be combative.”

When the sheriff’s deputy arrived he found the subject, an elderly man, lying on the ground next to the cart.

A Charlotte County ambulance responded to the scene from the Placida Road station to transport the subject to the hospital, as the Boca Grande ambulance was on another call at the time.

Way to go 72 year old man from Grande Bay. This is just what we need to see in the news when we are trying to protest this stupid golf cart ordinance.

HEY…I wasn’t finished with that comment! Add this…
“Damfino why you would drink yourself into oblivion, then get on your cart. Hire a driver!”
