The Boca Grande Community Panel asked downtown merchants and village residents to attend the board’s April 1 meeting to comment on a panel consultant’s recommendations. The consultant’s proposals included changing the east side of Park Avenue from Fourth to Third street from diagonal to parallel parking. The panel wanted opinions, and the panel got opinions. And those attending the meeting didn’t mince words.

The video includes comments by Temptation owner Jim Grace, Realtor and former Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce President Johns Knight, resident Skip Perry and others, and includes Panel Chairman threatening Knight with removal from the meeting. The video was shot by the Beacon’s Marcy Shortuse.

Boca Grande Bike Parade

The Boca Beacon’s video cam was there on Saturday, March 15 for the annual Bike Parade sponsored by the Boca Grande Community Center. (Video is about 10 minutes long)

Hurricane Charley

Dee’s Day: Boca Grande honors Dee Wheeler


Lee County sheriff’s deputies recently conducted a ‘crackdown’ in Boca Grande. Three were arrested and 29 tickets were written, including citations for having a tail light that a deputy reckoned was too dim as well as the ever-popular window tinting crimes. Here’s a violation they missed, however.
